If things come together for Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul, then a Russellville High School graduate will be a member of the first family. Kelley Paul is the daughter-in-law of Ron Paul who is making a bid for the presidency and seems to be gaining a large and loyal following. “I never thought my father-in-law would run for president and get this much attention,” Kelley said. Kelley graduated from RHS in 1981. Her parents, Lillian and Hilton Ashby, still live in Russellville. The family moved here in 1972. After graduating from RHS, Kelley went on to earn a degree in English from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn. She was living and working in Atlanta when she met her husband, Dr. Rand Paul, one of Ron Paul's five children. They were later married and decided they wanted to be closer to family. In 1993 they moved to Bowling Green where Rand Paul has been working as an ophthalmologist. Rand Paul sees patients in Logan County about twice a month. Kelley is a freelance writer who spends much of her time taking care of their three sons, William, 14, Robert, 8, and Duncan, 11.
